SUMMARY:Volunteer Day: The Sophia Way
DESCRIPTION:Join NAWIC PS for The Sophia Way Volunteer Day! The Sophia Way is a place of hope and change for women. Women who come to the shelters find a warm\, safe space to shower\, rest\, and sleep and are served nourishing food. Following the guiding principles of trauma-informed care\, case managers partner with the women to support their physical\, mental\, and financial well-being. \nFor our volunteer day\, we will be working in the Donation Center. Volunteer tasks at the Donation Center encompass a range of activities\, including sorting and recording incoming donations\, maintaining cleanliness and organization\, hanging clothing items\, and assisting with larger ongoing projects geared towards upcoming events. It’s important to note that these activities take place off-site from our shelters and do not involve direct client interaction. \n📍 Where: 222 112th NE\, Bellevue WA (The entrance is on the east side of the building facing the 405 freeway)\n***Note that our donation center address will not come up if volunteers try to map to “The Sophia Way Donation Center” and may accidentally take them to one of our shelters.***\n🚗 Parking: Please do not park in the upper lot close to 112th. Park close to our entrance on the east side of the building. You do not need to pay to park during donation center hours. \n🔔 Access: Our entrance says “Zylstra Building” above the sliding glass door. The building is an abandoned Virginia Mason clinic and does not look occupied. The sliding glass door is locked to the outside so please use the provided doorbell to the left of the door\, it is attached to a sign with our logo. \n👕 Dress Code: Comfort is key! Wear clothes and shoes that can handle a bit of dust and movement. \nIf interested volunteers may provide items for the holiday gifting program.  For the holidays\, The Sophia Way will be making over 150 bags for women across all of their programs including women in their shelters and those that have been recently housed. Please reach out to your network and bring the following items if you’re able: \nNew items for Holiday Gift Bags: \n\nAdult coloring books\n12 pack of colored pencils\nTumbler Mug (20 oz)\nHot Cocoa\nSpa Sheet Mask\nHard Sole Slippers\nHand Warmers\nUmbrellas\n\nNew or Used items needed for Winter \n\nCoats\nWinter socks (must be new)\nWomen’s Underwear (must be new\, needed in all sizes)\nWinter boots\nGloves (lined or ski gloves are preferred)\nWarm scarves\nSweatpants\nBackpacks and Luggage (all sizes)\nBath towels\nSleeping bags\nWarm blankets

SUMMARY:Holiday Wreath Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:We’re getting crafty for a cause! Join us for an evening of holiday cheer\, great company\, and a little wreath-making magic! \nCarli from Petals & Posies Flower Farm will guide us through creating our very own fresh holiday wreaths. No experience needed\, and everyone will head home with a beautiful wreath (and door hook) they made themselves! \nWe’ll have appetizers\, beer\, cider\, and wine to enjoy while we create\, connect\, and celebrate the season! \nWe’re also collecting donations for our neighbors in need through Everett Gospel Mission! These items all are collected and made into holiday “hand-up” packages as a part of the Corthouse Sock & Cookie Drive (a 30 year endeavor led by our chapter Presidents family). If you have more specific questions about this\, email Sarah directly for more info (sarahb@jameskingroofing.com). \nYou’re encouraged to bring: \n\n🧦 New men’s socks (thick wool blend or outdoor type preferred)\n🧴 Travel-size toiletries (toothpaste\, chapstick\, individual wrapped wipes\, etc)\n🍪 Homemade holiday cookies (2–3 per sandwich bag\, please!)\nHoliday cards or drawings from kids (4in x 6in size or smaller)\n\nCookies will be frozen and included in hand-up bags distributed during Christmas week.
